Yanga Eye TRA United Defender Nassri Kombo Ahead of New Season

Four-time consecutive Tanzania Premier League champions Yanga are reportedly interested in signing TRA United centre-back Nassri Kombo ahead of the upcoming major transfer window.

The 23-year-old defender has been one of the standout performers this season thanks to his impressive displays for TRA United. His composure on the ball, ability to read the game, and defensive solidity have attracted attention from several clubs, with Yanga believed to be leading the race for his signature.

Reports indicate that Yanga are looking to add a local centre-back to their squad as part of efforts to strengthen competition within the team. The move comes as the club explores options to replace Frank Assink, who is currently playing for Yanga on loan from Singida Black Stars.

Signing Kombo would allow Yanga to maintain a strong core of local defenders while focusing their foreign-player slots on strengthening other key areas of the squad, particularly midfield and attack.

At present, Yanga are not under significant pressure in the centre-back position due to the presence of experienced defenders such as Ibrahim Bacca, Bakari Mwamnyeto, and Dickson Job, who is expected to return to the squad during pre-season preparations.

Kombo’s contract with TRA United is expected to expire at the end of the current season, making him one of the players who could be available on favorable terms during the transfer market.
