War of Words Intensifies Ahead of Explosive Yanga vs Simba Muungano Cup Final

The verbal battle between Tanzanian football giants Yanga and Simba SC is heating up ahead of the Muungano Cup final, set to be played on Wednesday, April 29 at the New Amaan Complex.

Yanga were the first to book their place in the final after a 2-1 victory over Azam FC, before Simba joined them following a convincing 3-0 win against Mlandege FC in the second semi-final.

Kamwe boasts: “Simba have fallen into a trap”

Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has expressed satisfaction with Simba reaching the final, claiming that their rivals have walked into a “trap” that had been set for them.

Kamwe said Yanga had hoped to meet Simba before their league encounter, and now that scenario has come to life.

“We are happy they reached the final because our trap has now worked perfectly,” said Kamwe.

This season, Yanga and Simba have already met twice. The Community Shield ended 1-0 in favour of Yanga, followed by a goalless draw in the Premier League match played at the New Amaan Complex.

Simba respond with confidence

On the other hand, Simba’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ali, has stated that the club is ready for revenge in both the Muungano Cup final and the upcoming league clash on May 3.

Ahmed also revealed that Simba were hoping to meet Yanga in the final and even prayed for Azam FC to be eliminated so the big clash could happen.

“We love big matches and we prayed for Azam FC to be beaten by Yanga,” said Ahmed.

A new chapter in rivalry

This heated exchange comes at a time when Yanga appear stronger since their last meeting on March 1, following technical changes that included the return of assistant coach Abdulhamid Moalin. Since then, the team has produced consistent winning performances.

Simba, meanwhile, come into the final after an impressive 3-0 semi-final win over Mlandege FC, showing they are also in strong form and ready to challenge for the title.

A final of pressure and pride

The Muungano Cup final is now expected to be more than just a match—it is a battle of pride, dominance, and revenge between Tanzania’s biggest football rivals.

After that, the two sides will meet again on May 3 in the Premier League, setting up what fans are calling a “week of fire” in the Kariakoo Derby rivalry.
