The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has confirmed final preparations for the highly anticipated Kariakoo Derby by officially announcing the referees who will officiate the match between Simba SC and Yanga.
According to TFF, the center referee will be Hamza El Faruq from Morocco, assisted by Hamza En Nassri and Lahsen Agaou, while Mustapha Kechaf will serve as the fourth official. All match officials are from Morocco.
The decision to appoint international referees highlights the magnitude of the fixture, which attracts massive attention both within and outside Tanzania. The Kariakoo Derby is not just about three points, but also a battle for pride between the two historic rivals.
The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 3, at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, kicking off at 6:00 PM. The venue, located in Mbweni, Dar es Salaam, is expected to be packed with fans eager to witness the intense showdown.
Bringing in foreign referees is often aimed at ensuring transparency and minimizing accusations of bias in high-stakes matches like this, raising expectations for a fair and well-officiated game.
