Mbwana Samatta Scores First Ligue 1 Goal for Le Havre Against Nice

Tanzania international and Taifa Stars captain Mbwana Samatta has continued to make history in Europe after scoring his first goal for Le Havre AC in France’s Ligue 1.

Samatta scored on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in a 1-1 draw against OGC Nice at the Allianz Riviera Stadium. The Tanzanian forward found the net in the 41st minute after receiving a well-timed pass from midfielder Rassoul Ndiaye.

The goal marks Samatta’s first since joining Le Havre during the main summer transfer window, coming after several weeks without scoring for his new club.

Statistics show that three weeks before this match, Samatta contributed an assist in a Ligue 1 fixture against Paris FC, a game Le Havre lost 3-2.

By scoring in Ligue 1, Samatta has now extended his unique record of scoring in five different European leagues: the English Premier League, Belgian Pro League, Turkish Super Lig, Greek Super League, and now France’s Ligue 1.

The statistics place Samatta among a select group of East African players to have succeeded across multiple top European leagues.
