Argentine international striker Julián Álvarez has reportedly made it clear that he wants to join FC Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to European media reports, Álvarez believes Barcelona is the ideal club for the next stage of his career, despite interest and potential offers from other top clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Arsenal FC.
However, the deal faces several challenges, including Barcelona’s financial situation, which remains under strict La Liga financial regulations. To complete the transfer, the club may need to sell players or reduce its wage bill.
On the other hand, Atlético Madrid, who currently hold the player’s rights, are not expected to let him go easily—especially to a direct La Liga rival. Reports suggest the club would demand a significant transfer fee to consider a sale.
At Barcelona, Álvarez is viewed as a long-term solution to strengthen the attack, particularly as veteran striker Robert Lewandowski approaches the latter stages of his top-level career.
So far, no official agreement has been reached, but negotiations are expected to continue as the transfer window approaches.
