Inter Milan Thrash AS Roma 5–2 to Extend Serie A Lead

Inter Milan continued their dominance in the Italian Serie A after securing an emphatic 5–2 victory over AS Roma in a match played on April 5, 2026, at San Siro.

The game started at a very high pace, with captain Lautaro Martínez giving Inter an early lead within the first minute, showing excellent form after returning from injury. Roma regrouped and managed to equalize through Gianluca Mancini in the 40th minute.

However, the hosts restored their lead before halftime through midfielder Hakan Çalhanolu, who scored with a powerful long-range strike.

The second half saw Inter dominate the match at an even higher level. Martínez added his second goal in the 52nd minute, while Marcus Thuram scored and also contributed assists. Nicolò Barella capped off the goal fest by scoring the fifth goal.

Roma got their second goal through Lorenzo Pellegrini in the 70th minute, but it was not enough to prevent the heavy defeat.

The victory keeps Inter at the top of the league standings with a nine-point lead, having reached 72 points, boosting their hopes of winning the Serie A title this season. For Roma, the result increases pressure in their pursuit of a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
