The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hon. Paul Makonda, has appointed Haji Manara as the spokesperson for all Tanzania national teams in a move aimed at improving communication and sports promotion in the country.
Speaking to journalists today, May 28, 2026, at the Parliament grounds in Dodoma, Minister Makonda said the appointment is intended to strengthen the management of public relations and information regarding national teams, especially the Tanzania men’s national football team.
Hon. Makonda added that Manara will operate under the National Sports Council (BMT), which will oversee the implementation of his responsibilities in coordinating communication for all national teams.
Purpose of the appointment
Makonda said the main goal of the appointment is to ensure timely, transparent, and effective communication of national team information to the public, while also increasing fan engagement ahead of various international competitions.
The role also covers all national teams, including youth and women’s teams, under the supervision framework of the National Sports Council.
Manara has previously served in high-profile media and communication roles at both Yanga and Simba, where he gained significant recognition.
