Chelsea winger, Alejandro Garnacho, has issued a statement following the debate that arose after his recent interview, directly addressing the internal situation within Chelsea’s squad.
Garnacho said that one of the biggest lessons he learned at Manchester United is the importance of player accountability and commitment to the team, claiming that this is currently lacking to a large extent at Chelsea. He added that some players need to mature and take more responsibility instead of blaming others or hiding when faced with challenges.
“Look, one of the biggest things I learned at Manchester United is that true accountability is currently missing in Chelsea’s dressing room. Personally, I believe many players need to grow up and take more responsibility instead of blaming others or hiding. The club is going through a difficult period, everyone can see that, but you cannot run away or sulk every time things don’t go as expected. That sense of superiority has to stop; it weakens the team. No player is bigger than the club. Not me, not anyone else. You have to respect the badge, you have to respect the coach, otherwise you don’t deserve to wear that shirt.”
