Pyramids FC striker Fiston Mayele emerged as the hero of the match after scoring twice to lead his team to a dominant 3-0 victory over Al Ahly in an Egyptian Premier League clash played at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Monday night.
After a goalless first half, Pyramids came back strongly in the second half, showing clear intent to secure all three points. Mayele opened the scoring in the 70th minute with a shot that deflected off a defender, wrong-footing the Al Ahly goalkeeper.
The DR Congo international was not done yet, as he added a second goal in the 78th minute, finishing off a swift counterattack and leaving the Al Ahly defense with no answers.
In stoppage time, Karim Hafez sealed the victory with a penalty, completing an emphatic win that has shaken up the title race.
The result gives Pyramids renewed momentum in the championship battle, while putting Al Ahly under increasing pressure. The African giants now face a tough task of winning their remaining matches to keep their title hopes alive.
