The final day of the English Premier League season delivered major drama and history, with West Ham United relegated to the Championship despite winning their match, while Tottenham Hotspur survived relegation with a crucial victory over Everton.
West Ham beat Leeds but still go down
In their match against Leeds United, West Ham produced a strong performance and secured a convincing 3–0 victory. They played with intensity and hope, as fans believed the result would be enough to keep them in the Premier League.
However, their hopes were dashed by results from Tottenham’s match against Everton. Despite West Ham’s win, they finished 18th with 39 points, while Spurs stayed up with 41 points.
West Ham now drop to the Championship after a difficult season marked by inconsistent results, managerial changes, and internal challenges.
Tottenham survive with late-season victory
On the other side, Tottenham Hotspur were under immense pressure going into their final match against Everton. Spurs knew their survival depended not only on their own result but also on West Ham’s outcome.
Tottenham secured a vital 1–0 win thanks to a goal from João Palhinha, ensuring their place in the Premier League for the next season.
The victory was crucial as it guaranteed their survival, narrowly avoiding relegation by a small margin.
West Ham join Burnley and Wolves, who had already been relegated earlier in the season.
