It appears that Simba SC attacking midfielder Mohamed Bajaber has been given a chance to fight his way back into the first team after a long spell out due to recurring injuries.
Bajaber returned to action yesterday after a lengthy absence, featuring in Simba’s squad that played the Muungano Cup quarter-final against Mafunzo FC. In that match, Simba progressed to the semi-finals after a 1-0 victory.
Since joining Simba from Polisi FC during the July transfer window last year, the player has struggled to show his full potential due to frequent injuries.
These setbacks have been a major disappointment both for him and for Simba fans who were eager to see his ability on the pitch.
As a result, Simba’s management was forced to temporarily remove him from the registered squad during the mid-season transfer window to accommodate another foreign player, while giving him time to recover properly.
However, Bajaber continued training with the team, suggesting he still remains part of Simba’s long-term plans.
His return through the Muungano Cup is seen as the beginning of his efforts to prove himself again and earn a full recall to the squad.
Bajaber is still under a long-term contract with Simba, and the club may reinstate him in the next transfer window if they are satisfied with his fitness and performance levels.
However, if things do not improve, his future could become uncertain, as Simba may not be able to wait too long for him to regain full fitness, especially given his status as a foreign player.
