The 2026 FIFA World Cup has kicked off in spectacular fashion, with nations beginning their quest for global glory. Two matches were played on Friday night and early Saturday morning in Groups B and D.
Canada 1-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina
Co-hosts Canada opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a match played in Toronto.
Bosnia took the lead through Jovo Lukic, but striker Cyle Larin equalized for Canada shortly after coming on as a substitute.
The result earned Canada their first point of the tournament and marked a significant milestone in the country's men's FIFA World Cup history.
The other Group B fixture between Qatar and Switzerland is scheduled to be played on June 13, 2026.

Group D: USA Send Early Warning to Rivals
Group D began with a statement performance from the United States, who defeated Paraguay 4-1 in the opening match of the group.
Folarin Balogun starred with two goals, while Gio Reyna also got on the scoresheet as the Americans dominated large portions of the contest.
The convincing victory puts the United States at the top of the group and highlights their ambitions of making a deep run in the tournament on home soil.
