France international centre-back Ibrahima Konaté has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to join Spanish giants Real Madrid on a four-year deal as a free agent.
According to reports, Konaté has officially left Liverpool FC after the expiration of his contract and has chosen to begin a new chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu.
It is said that the completion of the deal still depends on certain internal conditions at Real Madrid, including internal political processes linked to the potential re-election of club president Florentino Pérez.
Reports also suggest that incoming coach José Mourinho, along with French superstar Kylian Mbappé, are among those pushing for the transfer to be finalized quickly due to Konaté’s ability to strengthen the defensive line.
Konaté, widely regarded as one of the most solid defenders in European football in recent years, is expected to bring significant strength to Real Madrid’s defence if the move is completed as reported.
During his time at Liverpool, the defender earned a strong reputation for his physical strength, pace, and leadership at the back, contributing to the club’s success in both domestic and European competitions.
