Yanga SC have renewed their interest in signing Angola international winger Gelson Dala ahead of the upcoming transfer window expected to open next month.
During the previous mid-season transfer window, Yanga made strong efforts to bring in Dala from Qatari club Al Wakrah SC, but the move ultimately failed due to complications in completing his transfer.
Reports indicate that Yanga had initially planned to sign both Dala and Laurindo Aurélio “Depu”, but they only managed to secure Depu’s signature, while Dala remained with his club in Qatar.
After the deal collapsed, the Tanzanian champions strengthened their squad by signing Buba Jammeh in the final stages of the window, a transfer that was recommended by former head coach Pedro Gonçalves.
Gonçalves, who previously coached Yanga, had specifically requested both Dala and Depu due to his familiarity with them during his time with the Angola national team.
Current reports suggest that Yanga have not given up on the player, and the plan to sign Dala remains active, with a strong possibility that he could join the club in the next transfer window.
It is understood that Yanga and Dala had already reached an initial agreement, but the deal collapsed because Al Wakrah were not willing to release the player during the mid-season window.
If negotiations are successfully completed, Dala could become one of Yanga’s major signings as they prepare for the upcoming domestic and international competitions.
