Head coach Florent Ibenge will remain at Azam FC for at least one more year after signing a contract extension that will keep him at the Chamazi-based club until 2028.
Azam FC have officially confirmed the new agreement with the Congolese coach, who has built a strong reputation as one of Africa’s most respected football managers.
Ibenge had reportedly reached an agreement with the Malian Football Federation to become the head coach of the Mali national team. However, despite having already been approved for the role, he later withdrew from the process before the appointment was finalized.
His decision is believed to have followed a successful effort by Azam FC to convince him to stay and continue the long-term project he began with the club this season.
By extending his contract, Ibenge has reaffirmed his commitment to leading Azam FC’s development and pursuing the club’s ambitions in domestic and continental competitions over the coming years.
