Singida Black Stars Goalkeeper Metacha Mnata Issues Apology After Substitution Incident

Singida Black Stars goalkeeper Metacha Mnata has issued an apology following an incident in which he refused to be substituted during a Tanzania Mainland Premier League match against Young Africans SC at KMC Complex, a game Singida BS lost 3–0.

Mnata was seen unwilling to leave the pitch shortly after conceding a goal from a free kick, before eventually accepting to be replaced by teammate Abasogie Amos.

In his statement, Mnata said the incident was caused by match pressure and competitive emotions, emphasizing that he had no intention of showing indiscipline or disrespecting the technical bench’s decision.

"I apologize to the fans, the technical bench, the officials, and all Singida BS supporters for the confusion that occurred during our match against Young Africans SC."

"What happened was a result of emotions during the game and competitive pressure, but it was never my intention to show indiscipline or disregard the technical bench’s decisions."

"I respect my team, my coach, and all decisions made in the interest of the club. I have learned from the incident and I promise to continue fighting for the team with greater discipline, commitment, and unity with my teammates," said Metacha.

Following his apology, Singida Black Stars are not expected to take further disciplinary action against Metacha Mnata.
