The Manchester United management is reportedly in the final stages of confirming Michael Carrick as the club’s permanent head coach following his impressive success as interim manager.
According to several media outlets in England, United officials have been impressed by the major transformation within the squad since Carrick took charge after the departure of Ruben Amorim earlier this year.
Carrick, who previously spent more than a decade as a Manchester United midfielder, has guided the team back into strong Premier League contention while also securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
In the 15 league matches he has managed so far, Carrick has won 10 games, with United delivering strong performances against top sides including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
A source close to the club stated that the leadership believes Carrick understands the culture of Manchester United and has the ability to restore the club’s status after several years of instability in the managerial position.
Aside from the positive results on the pitch, Carrick has also been praised for improving the performances of key players including Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and Casemiro, who have all appeared to rediscover their best form under his tactical system.
Many Manchester United supporters have also called on the club to hand Carrick a permanent contract, believing he could begin a new era at Old Trafford.
The 44-year-old Carrick played for Manchester United from 2006 to 2018, winning several major trophies including the UEFA Champions League and five Premier League titles under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
