Florentino Perez Confirms He Will Run Again as Real Madrid President

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has made it clear that he has no intention of stepping down and will instead run again for the presidency of the Spanish giants.

Speaking during an emergency press conference held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Pérez said there is a coordinated campaign aimed at damaging his reputation and destabilizing Real Madrid, especially after the club endured a difficult football season.

“There is a campaign against me, but I will not resign. I am still here, and I remain the president of Real Madrid,” Pérez told reporters.

Pérez also addressed rumors circulating on social media claiming that he is suffering from cancer, firmly denying the reports and describing them as completely false.

“Some people say I have cancer. These reports were simply fabricated. My health is strong,” he insisted.

The unexpected press conference caused widespread speculation among Real Madrid supporters, with many believing Pérez could resign due to increasing pressure following the club’s disappointing performances this season. Real Madrid is now on course to finish without a major trophy for the second consecutive year, intensifying criticism of the club’s leadership.

During his speech, Pérez stressed that he still has the energy and determination to continue leading the club, while also announcing that the next presidential election at Real Madrid will take place earlier than expected and that he intends to contest the position again.

The 79-year-old Florentino Pérez is widely regarded as one of the most successful presidents in Real Madrid history, having overseen multiple trophy-winning eras, including several UEFA Champions League triumphs across his two spells in charge.
