Reports continue to intensify across Europe regarding the possibility of José Mourinho making another return to Real Madrid.
Although Mourinho has publicly denied holding talks with Madrid officials, several reports from Spain and Portugal claim that informal discussions are still ongoing behind the scenes.
Multiple European media outlets have reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez views Mourinho as the right figure to restore discipline and competitiveness within the squad after a disappointing season.
Mourinho, who is currently managing Benfica, has been strongly linked with a return to the Santiago Bernabéu, with some reports even suggesting Benfica have already started searching for a potential replacement should the deal materialize.
During his recent press conference, Mourinho stated that he has not received any phone call from anyone at Real Madrid and insisted he remains fully focused on his duties at Benfica until the end of the season.
However, other reports claim that behind the scenes there are already ongoing discussions regarding Mourinho’s possible return, with Florentino Pérez said to be playing a major role in the process.
Mourinho previously coached Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning the La Liga title and Copa del Rey while helping restore the club as a major force in European football. His time at the club is especially remembered for the intense rivalry against Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona side.
