Famous South African coach Pitso Mosimane has been mentioned as one of the leading candidates for the role of head coach of the Mali national team, following the country’s process of searching for a new technical bench leader.
According to reports cited by several sports media outlets including Koora, Mosimane has been placed on a shortlist of three coaches under close consideration, alongside Morocco’s Walid Regragui and French coach Hervé Renard, all of whom have significant experience in African and international football.
These high-profile names have been prioritized due to their records in various continental competitions and the FIFA World Cup, where each has demonstrated the ability to lead teams at the highest competitive level.
Mosimane is currently without a club after leaving Esteghlal of Iran in January 2025, a situation that increases the possibility of him returning to coaching quickly should he receive an official offer from the Mali Football Federation.
The coach is highly respected across Africa due to his achievements with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, where he won multiple domestic league titles and international competitions, including the CAF Champions League.
His success has continued to place him among the most experienced coaches on the continent, making Mali view him as one of the leading candidates for the prestigious position.
