Real Madrid Consider Mourinho and Klopp for Next Head Coach Role

Real Madrid CF are currently deciding who will become their permanent head coach for next season, with two major names leading the race: Jürgen Klopp and José Mourinho.

Recent reports suggest that the club has narrowed its shortlist to these two candidates following a disappointing season under current coach Álvaro Arbeloa, prompting major changes in the technical bench.

Mourinho slightly ahead

At the moment, José Mourinho is believed to have a slight advantage in the race due to:

  • His previous spell at the club (2010–2013)
  • His willingness to return immediately
  • Support from club president Florentino Pérez

Mourinho is reportedly open to waiting for the final decision, with discussions still ongoing.

Klopp still an option, but uncertain

Jürgen Klopp remains a strong candidate, but there are some concerns:

  • He has not clearly indicated he wants to return to coaching yet
  • He is still involved in his role within the Red Bull football system

This makes Real Madrid cautious about relying fully on him unless his situation changes.

Split opinions inside the club

There are mixed views within the club hierarchy:

  • Some prefer Klopp due to his modern tactical style
  • Others favor Mourinho for his experience and winning mentality

Some players are also reportedly concerned about Mourinho’s possible return due to past dressing room tensions.

Decision still pending

Real Madrid have not yet made a final decision. The outcome will depend on:

  • The club president’s final approval
  • Klopp’s availability
  • Mourinho’s willingness to return

For now, Mourinho appears to be the leading candidate, but Klopp is still very much in the race.
