Yanga SC vs Simba SC: Muungano Cup Final Set for Zanzibar Showdown

Traditional rivals Yanga SC and Simba SC are set to clash today, Wednesday, April 29, in the Muungano Cup final at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, in a match highly anticipated by football fans across the country.

The final is expected to be a fierce contest between Tanzania’s two football giants, both of whom have shown strong performances throughout the tournament on their way to the decisive stage.

Yanga SC reached the final after a 2-1 victory over Azam FC in the semi-final played at the same venue, while Simba SC booked their place with a convincing 3-0 win against Mlandege FC.

The final is scheduled to kick off at 2:15 PM, with preparations already completed and a large crowd expected to attend this historic encounter.

According to official information, the match will be officiated by Kenyan international referee Dickens Mimisa Nyagrowa, aged 33, who holds a FIFA badge. Nyagrowa has significant experience in major African competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the CHAN tournament.

He will be assisted by Ally Mbwana and Yusuph Shombe, both from Zanzibar, while Ishaka Mwalile from mainland Tanzania will serve as the fourth official.

Football fans are expecting a highly competitive match, given the long-standing rivalry between Yanga and Simba, with both sides determined to lift the Muungano Cup title this season.

The New Amaan Complex is expected to be packed to capacity, with Zanzibar becoming the center of football excitement for one of the biggest fixtures on the national football calendar.
