Pedro Goncalves Confident as Yanga Prepare for Muungano Cup Final Against Simba

Yanga head coach Rui Pedro Gonçalves has said his team is fully prepared for the Muungano Cup final against Simba SC, emphasizing that the match will not only be about competition but also entertainment for fans.

The highly anticipated clash is set to be played on Wednesday, April 29 at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, bringing together Tanzania’s biggest football rivals.

Winning every match is the goal

Speaking to journalists ahead of the final, Gonçalves said Yanga are determined to win every match regardless of the competition, stressing that discipline and clear club objectives are the foundation of their success.

“When we started the season, we set our goals. Regardless of competitions that are given priority, our philosophy is to win every match,” said Gonçalves.

He added that his main responsibility is to ensure players maintain high performance levels and confidence in every game they play.

Entertainment for fans

Gonçalves emphasized that Yanga will not only aim for victory but also focus on entertaining the fans who are expected to attend the final in large numbers.

“My players are prepared not just to play a final, but to entertain. We are going to entertain the fans, not just play,” he explained.

He added that he has high expectations for his squad, believing the match will be highly competitive and exciting.

Zanzibar feels like home for Yanga

The coach also highlighted the warm reception his team has received wherever they travel within Tanzania, saying Yanga feel at home everywhere in the country.

“Whether in mainland Tanzania or Zanzibar, Yanga is at home. We have received a warm welcome everywhere. Here in Zanzibar, we are at home,” he said.
