Ibenge Confident as Azam FC Prepares for Yanga Clash in Muungano Cup Semi-Final

Azam FC head coach Florent Ibenge has stated that his team will be ready for the Muungano Cup semi-final match against Yanga, set to be played tomorrow, Saturday, at the New Amaan Complex.

Azam FC reached the semi-finals after defeating KVZ 2-0, while defending champions Yanga secured their spot with a 4-0 victory over Muembe Makumbi in the quarter-finals.

Ibenge expressed confidence that his squad is prepared to face one of the best teams from Mainland Tanzania (Yanga), after eliminating one of the strongest teams from Zanzibar (KVZ).

"It’s true we are going to face Yanga. It will be a tough match, but for us at Azam, these are the kinds of games we always want to play. We will prepare well to face them."

"Matches like these help you grow stronger and understand the quality of your team. We have just knocked out one of the best teams here in Zanzibar—it wasn’t easy—but now we go on to face one of the best teams in the Mainland league," he said.

This will be the third meeting between Azam FC and Yanga this year, and the second time the two sides meet in Zanzibar.

Yanga won the Mapinduzi Cup in January after beating Azam FC on penalties following a goalless draw.

The two teams also met in a league match, which similarly ended in a goalless draw.
