Mbeya City have appointed Salum Mayanga as their new head coach following the departure of Mecky Maxime and his technical bench. The decision comes at a difficult time for the team, which is struggling to avoid relegation.
Mayanga is no stranger to the “Wagonga Nyundo” side, having previously coached the team during their time in the Championship (First Division League). His familiarity with the club and its environment is seen as a key advantage.
Mbeya City’s situation in the NBC Premier League is far from ideal. The team currently sits 14th with 17 points after 19 matches, placing them dangerously close to the relegation zone. Pressure is mounting, and all eyes are now on Mayanga to turn things around before it’s too late.
The new coach’s first test will come against Mashujaa FC in a match scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2026. The game will be played at Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium starting at 4:15 PM.
