Simba SC have begun efforts to retain striker Suleiman Mwalimu, whose loan contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.
According to the initial agreement, Mwalimu is expected to return to his parent club Wydad AC in June once his loan deal comes to an end.
However, Simba’s management has moved early to ensure the striker remains at Msimbazi for another season, following his strong contributions to the team.
Reports suggest that the club’s preference is either to sign him permanently or extend his loan, should a full transfer prove difficult.
The decision has been influenced by Mwalimu’s impressive form this season, where he has established himself as a key attacking player.
The striker has enjoyed a productive campaign, leading Simba’s scoring charts with six goals in the NBC Premier League.
Simba head coach Steve Barker sees Mwalimu as an important part of his attacking system and a key component of his plans for next season.
It is understood that Simba want to finalize the deal early in order to avoid competition from other clubs that may be attracted by his performances.
Reports also suggest that Yanga have made contact with Wydad AC regarding a possible move for the player, adding urgency to Simba’s efforts.
Mwalimu’s recent appearance at KMC Complex during Yanga’s match against Mbeya City sparked online debate about his future, although it is understood he was simply attending the game during his free time with friends.
Coach Steve Barker had given his squad time off after returning to Dar es Salaam from Arusha, where they played a league match against Fountain Gate.
