Following the completion of postponed NBC Premier League fixtures, Round 18 has officially concluded, with some teams already beginning their Round 19 matches.
Today’s results saw Simba SC secure a 3-0 victory over Fountain Gate FC, a win that keeps them in second place on the league table. However, the result was not enough to close the gap on league leaders Yanga SC.
Yanga SC continue to sit at the top with 44 points from 18 matches, maintaining a five-point lead over their arch-rivals Simba SC, who have 39 points from the same number of games. This gap puts Yanga in a strong position to defend their title for a fifth consecutive season if they maintain consistency in the remaining 12 matches.
In third place, Azam FC have accumulated 34 points from 18 matches, while JKT Tanzania sit fourth with 29 points, also after 18 matches.
From a title race perspective, it can be said that Yanga SC now control their own destiny in the pursuit of a fifth straight championship.
With 12 matches remaining, Wananchi will likely need to win at least 10 games to secure the title, while avoiding defeats in key fixtures against their closest challengers Simba SC and Azam FC.
As the league approaches its final stages, the pressure continues to rise, with every point becoming crucial in determining the eventual champion of the 2025/2026 season.
