Preparations for Young Africans SC ahead of their NBC Premier League match against Mbeya City FC are continuing with great focus, as the club emphasizes its ambition to maintain dominance in the title race.
The club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, said preparations for the match scheduled for Thursday, April 16 at KMC Complex are progressing well, but are being handled with caution due to the competitiveness of this season’s league.
Kamwe noted that Yanga are aware the match will not be easy, especially considering that the first-round encounter between the two sides ended in a goalless draw at Sokoine Stadium.
"We did not get all three points in the first match, so now we return to KMC Complex as the home team. Our aim is to perform better," said Kamwe.
He added that Yanga’s current strategy is not just about winning individual matches, but ensuring consistency in results to defend their league title.
"This is the second round, the league has become more competitive. Our objective has changed; it is not just about beating Mbeya City, but maintaining consistency to defend our title for the fifth consecutive time," he explained.
Kamwe said this approach has motivated both players and the technical bench, adding that training resumed after the squad returned to preparations yesterday.
"That mindset will drive us into this match with high motivation. We will play with commitment and determination to ensure we win and stay in a strong position in the title race," he said.
He confirmed the return of several players including Djigui Diarra, Prince Dube, and Depu, although Depu is still not fully fit at 100%.
Diarra has completed his three-match suspension, while Dube and Depu return after recovering from injuries.
However, striker Emmanuel Mwanengo remains sidelined due to injury, along with Buba Jammeh, who picked up a knock during the CRDB Cup match against TMA Stars.
