The Media and Communications Manager of Simba SC, Ahmed Ali, has confirmed that the club’s management has decided to return striker Jonathan Sowah to the youth development programme after he was suspended over allegations of indiscipline.
According to the club, Sowah was suspended while in camp in March when the team was in Dodoma preparing for a league match against Dodoma Jiji FC, following complaints from the technical bench regarding his behaviour.
"Jonathan Sowah was suspended from our camp in March when we were in Dodoma for a league match against Dodoma Jiji," said Ahmed Ali.
"He was accused of several acts of indiscipline, which came from complaints by the technical bench. He was later sent back to Dar es Salaam to wait for the club’s internal procedures to be completed."
Ahmed explained that after the case was reviewed by the club’s Disciplinary Committee, the player was found guilty and given two main punishments.
"The first punishment is a fine, and the second is an order to train with the youth team as part of character development and rehabilitation," he clarified.
The striker will now train with Simba’s U20 squad under supervision, with the possibility of returning to the senior team if he shows positive changes in discipline and attitude.
"If he shows good improvement, he will be reintegrated into the senior team to continue with his duties," added Ahmed Ali.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Sowah has submitted a request for mutual termination of his contract, although the club has not officially confirmed this.
The player has also denied all allegations of indiscipline, insisting that he is not guilty of any wrongdoing.
