Yanga SC of Dar es Salaam is reportedly beginning the process of signing Azam FC defensive midfielder, Ghanaian international James Akaminko, whose contract with the club is nearing its end.
According to information from transfer market sources, Yanga has initiated early discussions with the aim of securing the experienced midfielder, who has significant experience in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, as part of efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
This is not the first time Yanga has shown interest in Akaminko. Previously, the club attempted to include him in negotiations during the transfer process involving Feisal Salum’s move to Azam FC, alongside the name of Kipre Junior, who currently plays for MC Alger in Algeria.
At that time, Azam FC successfully retained the midfielder, who has served the club for four seasons and has been one of the key players in their midfield setup.
However, reports suggest that the current situation may be different, as the player himself is believed to be open to seeking a new challenge after spending a long time at Azam FC, which could pave the way for a potential transfer.
If Yanga SC succeeds in completing the deal, it could lead to changes in their midfield department, including the possible departure of Moussa Balla Conte, who is currently on loan at Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
