Defending champions Yanga SC have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the CRDB Federation Cup after edging TMA Stars 1-0 in a tightly contested match played at KMC Complex.
In a highly competitive encounter, Yanga were forced to work hard to break down TMA Stars’ solid defensive setup. Despite dominating large portions of the game, Wananchi faced strong resistance from their opponents, who showed great discipline, particularly at the back.
The only goal of the match came in the 69th minute through midfielder Maxi Nzengeli, who calmly finished a well-delivered pass from Edmund John. The goal followed sustained pressure as Yanga searched for a breakthrough.
However, despite the important victory, Yanga will have reason to reflect on their inefficiency in front of goal. Poor finishing was evident and could have cost them had their opponents been more clinical.
On the other hand, TMA Stars impressed with their level of organization and competitiveness, offering signs of promise for future matches despite the defeat.
The win extends Yanga’s remarkable unbeaten run in the CRDB Federation Cup to nearly five years.
