Barker Plans Tactical Tweaks as Simba Seek Goals Against Dodoma Jiji

Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has said he will make slight tactical changes to his squad ahead of their CRDB Federation Cup Round of 16 match against Dodoma Jiji, scheduled to be played at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.

Barker said the adjustments are aimed at improving the team’s creativity in creating goal-scoring opportunities, following a recent spell of goal drought.

Speaking ahead of the match, Barker admitted that his team has been creating chances but lacking the sharpness to convert them.

“In the last match we played against Dodoma Jiji, I think we performed well, but it was just unfortunate that we couldn’t score,” he said.

He added that the issue is not new, noting that Simba SC have also failed to score in their last two Tanzania Premier League matches.

“We have also played two league matches without scoring. We understand the challenge we are facing and we are putting in a lot of work on the training ground,” he explained.

Barker said the technical bench is already working on tactical adjustments to improve attacking efficiency and increase the team’s ability to create chances.

“We need to create more chances in order to score goals, so we will make a few tactical changes which I believe will give us a wider range of opportunities to create and score,” he said.

The match is expected to be highly competitive due to its knockout nature, with both teams fighting for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
