Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, has reportedly initiated steps to conclude his tenure at Anfield after circulating reports that he intends to resign as the club’s manager at the end of the season.
The reports emerged from sources closely connected to internal discussions at the club and social media commentary.
According to statements released today, Slot has formally presented the idea of stepping down, contingent upon certain financial agreement conditions being accepted by Liverpool’s management.
This proposal comes as his position is being reassessed following a challenging 2025–26 season marked by poor results and underwhelming club performance.
Liverpool were eliminated from the FA Cup last Saturday after a 4–0 defeat to Manchester City, a result that put the team under significant pressure and intensified scrutiny on Slot due to a string of disappointing outcomes.
Media reports indicate that discussions regarding the Dutch manager’s future have already begun, amid growing dissatisfaction among supporters over the team’s performance.
Despite winning the Premier League title last season, this season has seen a decline in results and team quality. Some journalists and football analysts suggest that Slot’s tenure may be reaching its end under the mounting pressure from unmet expectations.
However, the club’s management appears to be reviewing his proposal before making a final decision, with some reports indicating that Slot still has the opportunity to complete the season, including participation in the Champions League competitions.
